about

Why? That’s what you want to know, isn’t it? Why do I write this site and why should you read it? (I can’t answer the second part for you.) Before the why, here’s a little on who.

Kerry: That’s me. And in case the unisex name confused you, let me help you out. I’m female, 28, with a big swell of affection for clothes, makeup and accessories. I’m a mix of city and country girl - loving the action of a big city but with a yearning for wide open spaces - and my medium-sized Indiana town is a pretty good fit.

I was lucky enough to meet - and marry - the man who’s my perfect complement. He makes me cry with laughter, he’s my best friend - and he has the sexiest dimples you’ll ever find. His name’s John, and on July 14, we’ll hit our seventh wedding anniversary.

In December 2005, our little family grew a bit with the addition of Emma Leigh, the light of our dreary old lives.

We have a happy house and two three crazy cats, Max, Sophie, and Ash, and life is good.

I have a degree in professional writing, which sounds funnier to me every time I say it. I write because I love to do it; it’s that simple. I stopped doing it for a while, outside of work, and found that I missed it. As in, I missed it to the point where I had to put aside all the reasons I stopped and remember how good it felt to express myself. I discovered this crazy world of blogging, got hooked on a couple people who are still on my blogroll and finally decided, “Hey, I might give this a try.”

I started writing online back in January 2004, and after a brief stint over at Blogspot, I registered this domain. If you’re wondering where in the heck “sillysun” came from, keep wondering. No, actually it’s just a combination of John’s nickname for me and mine for him. The journal and weblog names come from a favorite poem of mine by T.S. Eliot, “The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock.”

If you’re still curious about anything me- or site-related, ask.

And, of course, there’s also the requisite 100 things to check out.
